Pop/alternative recording artist LaRue released its self-titled first album to widespread acclaim in August 1999, at the ages of 16 (Phillip) and 14 (Natalie). This brother/sister duo has gone on to release 3 more albums in the past four years. Individually, Phillip and Natalie dabbled in music growing up but never thought about becoming a band until their mother suggested they write and sing together.

Also in 1999, Release magazine readers voted LaRue as their "Favorite New Artist or Group”, and the Disney Channel recognized the group's talent as it tapped the video "Reason" for its video rotation. They believe in “being real” with their family, friends, the people that listen to their music and especially before God. As songwriters, they use their personal experiences to tell the world what God is doing in their own lives and about their personal walks with the Lord. Another big influence in their lyrics is their family. Along with their mother and father, their twin sisters, Brianna and Rachelle have been known to jump in their bus and travel with the band.
